Our Benefits Team are on a roll and since April last year helped more than 700 residents claim over £866,400 of benefit they didn’t know they were entitled to!

Every year, millions of pounds of social security benefits go unclaimed; often it is those who need it most who do not claim. The Government estimated that in June 2009 there was £10.6 billion of unclaimed benefit.

Our two Welfare Benefits Officers make sure our residents get a full personal income by finding any benefit they haven’t claimed for. They can:

• Advise on entitlement to welfare benefits like:
• Housing and council tax benefits,
• Income support,
• Jobseekers allowance,
• Pension credit,
• Tax credits,
• Disability and carer benefits.
• Help you get the right application forms.
• Help you complete the specialist claim form.
• Assist with benefit appeals.
• Represent you at a benefit appeal tribunal.
• Advise which other agencies may be able to help.
