Resident Consultative Committees - Estimated time required :- 2-3 hours per month
Swan Housing Association encourages resident involvement in many areas from local estate issues to regional level decisions and policies that will affect all residents.
A Residents Consultative Committee (RCC) is a group of residents who consult and negotiate with Swan Housing Group on all housing matters involved in the running of the Associations. They meet monthly to discuss issues and yearly to elect members onto the Group's Management Boards.
‘The Resident Consultative Committee are regionally based in Essex, and the London areas. The committees meet bi-monthly or monthly and discuss neighbourhood, community and environmental issues.
They also become involved in attending service reviews and help Swan set standards, i.e. rent arrears, Lettings and Allocations and Voids etc. At each meeting a formal agenda is set and policies are submitted to the Committees, which are approved by them before they go to Swan’s boards of management. They also receive reports from Swan staff regarding service performance in their region’.
