Local teenager wins 'Apprentice of the Year'

Jay is working on the regeneration of the Craylands Estate. It is important to us, when we regenerate estates, that we use local labour.

Winner, Jay Bridgen, 17, is employed by our contractor Higgins as part of Swan’s commitment to offer chances to young, local people.

Our Community Web Developer - Mark Saint When talented fine-art painter Mark Saint has any spare time he goes fishing or walks the dog. But this hard working resident and member of staff spends much of his time running our community websites, our new Facebook page and looking for new ways for Swan to talk with you online.

Mark, 47, from Chadwell Heath in London is our Community Web Developer.

“I run all of our community websites, but web4residents.org is the main one. It is basically an online version of The Communicator.

Jo got involved Jo Alphous from Harlow in Essex believes that our free training sessions and getting involved with us, has meant that she now has more to offer in life.

In a short space of time she has gone from mystery-shopper to becoming a Regional Committee Member who’s doing a qualification in Housing.

emily_nicholls_300 Emily Nicholls, is determined to get a career and make a stable life for her young son. She lives at our parent and child Foyer in Basildon, Essex.

“My son Riley is two years old and is my world. I have only been at the Foyer for about a month or so until I get an opportunity to move into somewhere more permanent elsewhere. At present I’m being trained and supported to live on my own and start my career.

Thrilled to be back at work!

Masilin is thrilled to be back at work! Masilin Mudhluyi, 30, wanted help with getting a job closer to home after maternity leave. She is a Support Worker from the Bow Cross Estate in Tower Hamlets. Her job was in West London - an hour and half commute away!

She received job training through our partners the Arbour Trust who helped her find a new job.
