Over 200 entries fought for the judges’ attention in this year’s Best Garden Awards. The awards recognise the effort that people have made in making their area look nice.
The Mayor of Basildon, Councillor Mo Larkin presented awards to proud winners of neighbouring Five Links & Churchview Estates, at a joint presentation evening. There were four award categories including best front garden, back garden and hanging basket.

We are helping to support your local community by running Work Clubs in your area.
We just opened the first Work Club in Basildon, based at the Craylands Consultation Shop. It is the second for Swan, having opened a similar club on the Bow Cross Estate in Tower Hamlets.

Our celebration of Black History Month in October was again a wonderful opportunity to celebrate diversity and the contributions of black men and women to British society.
This year we held two extra special activities to mark the month. We had a ‘bring a dish’ lunch at the Bow Cross Community Hall and we ran an art competition for residents under 16 years old

Local residents showed off their skills at our version of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’, at the Bow Cross Fun Day.
Winner of ‘Bow’s Got Talent’ was a twelve year old girl, who stole the judges hearts with Mariah Carey’s classic, ‘Hero’. She beat off the competition in front of 160 people, including, four other singers and three dance acts, who were brave enough to take to the stage.
