Letting your home to someone is illegalMost people applying for housing wait their turn to be allocated a home. Housing cheats don’t wait they jump the queue and it’s not fair.
They use up valuable housing spaces which means those in greater need can’t use them. Illegal Subletting is when a tenant lets out their home without our knowledge. The person subletting usually gets charged a much higher rate.

We take subletting seriously, as it’s not fair on those who may need the property more.

If you know someone who is living in a property and is not the tenant, please let us know by contacting your Neighbourhood Officer on 0300 303 2500
