Winter heating and hot water

Clip of OAP turning a tapWith winter just around the corner many residents will be considering turning the heating up to provide comfort against the falling temperature outside.

This time of year is very busy for Swan’s maintenance staff who deal with an increased number of calls from residents who find that their boiler or heating system is not working correctly.

To avoid these problems it is worth checking your heating system by turning it on for an hour or so.

You should also keep in mind a series of basic checks which can help to solve any issues you have in getting the central heating system to work. Before running the system check:

  • That your gas or electric meter has enough credit
  • The boiler is switched on
  • The room thermostat is turned up
  • The radiator thermostatic valves are open
  • The timer clock is set correctly

If, after carrying out these checks, your heating system is not working you should contact Axis on the freephone number 0800 783 2768 and arrange for a gas engineer to visit.
