Image of the unveiling ceremonySwan Housing Group is offering a £100 reward to anyone able to provide information that leads to the recovery of a stolen memorial plaque from outside the old Millwall Fire Station on Westferry Road at the Southern end of the Isle of Dogs.

The plaque commemorates the lives of Violet Pengelly and Joan Bartlett, two teenage fire fighters who lost their lives during a Blitz bombing raid in 1940, and was unveiled in a special cereomony by Jim Fitzpatrick earlier this year (You can view the article here).

Swan Housing Group Deputy Chief Executive, Mark Thompson, said:

‘It’s sad that a plaque like this should be stolen at a time of year when we traditionally come together in remembrance of the sacrifices made by others.
We hope that this small reward might lead to information that helps us recover the plaque.

Anyone with information on the plaque’s whereabouts should contact Swan on 01277 844700.
