You may be interested in what is going on, on your estate or in your area. By getting together with your neighbours you can help to represent your neighbourhood and seek solutions for local issues and problems, or even organise social activities in your community

What is the difference between a residents association and a resident's forum?

What do they do?

Residents associations can be involved in all types of activities from running community transport to organizing youth activity schemes and local employment initiatives. They also campaign for changes and
improvements in your area. Often it is local people who have the answers to local problems.

How are they supported?

Resident Associations are formally registered by Swan Housing Association and receive an annual grant to support their work. To be formally registered they must hold regular meetings to which all residents in the area are invited and must appoint officers to run the day to day business of the RA. They meet regularly to discuss issues that affect their local area.

We are currently reviewing the criteria for setting up a Resident Association, so at present we are not registering any new associations. Residents can still get together in informal Resident Forums.

Is there one near me?

We have a number of registered Resident Associations and informal Resident Forums in Essex and London.

  • Blackwall Way & Nova Court
  • Brackendale Court Residents Association
  • Churchview Residents Association
  • Five Links Residents Association
  • Millharbour
