Approximate time required:- 2 or more hours per month

On the Bow Cross (Crossways) & Exmouth Estate, residents and staff have formed local management boards. These boards monitor the performance of local services.

What is a Management Board?

A Management Board is one of the key levels of formal participation structure at Swan and is the centre of making all decisions for a particular geographic location. This Board consists of a group of estate residents who work closely with the landlord and with the other stakeholders to make sure the services are delivered in way that can meet the needs of the residents.

An estate Board has its own constitution and codes of conducts, which are used as a guideline in operating its businesses. Generally a board is registered with Swan and this is why they need to go through and adopt the standard “recognition criteria”. The recognition is mainly about making sure the organisation follows the good practices such as equal opportunity, good governance and democracy as well as accountability to the wider community.

Swan provides various supports to a board such as capacity build up training, paper works and financial assistance etc. An Estate Board can also nominate representatives to the Residents Consultative Committee and to the Regional Board to get involved in wider service and business oriented issues.

What do they do?

2 Management Boards have been established successfully on the Bow Cross and Exmouth estates in London region. (Bow Cross Estate Management Board & Exmouth Estate Residents Board) These Boards have been playing a significant role into the estates regeneration and service improvement.

Joint decision making, representing others’ view and achieving best deals for the residents are always challenging but Swan is fully committed to support those boards as much as possible to demonstrate the corporate objective “residents are the centre of all business”.

How can I get involved?

Meeting dates of the Bow Cross & Exmouth Management Boards can be found in the Events section of this website, and residents will be welcome to attend any of these meetings as a guest.

If you would like to get more involved in either the Bow Cross or Exmouth Estate Management Boards please contact your resident involvement team .
