Britain’s 300,000 Gypsies, Roma and Travellers have lived, worked and travelled throughout Britain for over 500 years, yet they have been almost entirely written out of British history. The result is a widespread ignorance, which sometimes turns to hatred, fear and misunderstanding. Gypsy, Roma and Traveller History Month aims to change that. Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities will be coming together to learn more about each other’s cultures, raise public awareness, and tackling negative stereotyping. There is a national ‘Travellers Got Talent’ and the famous Appleby Fair on 6th June, in Cumbria. Further information can also be found at www.grthm.co.uk .
