Eva Nesbitt has started as our new Family Intervention Project (FIP) Practitioner. She can provide intensive support to vulnerable families who are at risk of eviction because of the following:
- Persistent anti-social behaviour
- Domestic violence and child neglect/abuse
- Poverty, benefit or debt problems
- Drug or alcohol addiction
- Mental or physical health problems
- Or other issues that mean they cannot maintain their tenancy
Eva will work with specific families living in Tower Hamlets to address the cause of the problem. If you or anyone is experiencing any of the above, please contact your Neighbourhood Officer on 0300 303 2500. |

Domestic abuse is very common and currently claims the life of two women a week and one man every three weeks. One incident of domestic abuse is reported to the Police every minute.
Domestic Violence is ‘Any incident of threatening behaviour, violence or abuse (psychological, physical, sexual, financial or emotional) between adults who are or have been intimate partners or family members, regardless of gender or sexuality’. This includes so called ‘honour based violence’, forced marriage, abuse of power and intimidation. Whatever form it takes it is rarely a one-off incident and should instead be seen as a pattern of abuse and controlling behaviour through which the abuser seeks power over their victim. |

What is Domestic Abuse?
“Any incident of threatening behaviour, violence or abuse (psychological, physical, sexual, financial or emotional) between adults who are, or have been intimate partners, or family members, regardless of gender or sexuality.”
Swan are committed to raise awareness of domestic abuse - how wide spread domestic abuse is and its affects. We also want to promote healthy relationships based on trust and equality.
Recent facts show that:
- 2 women per week are killed in England and Wales by a partner or ex-partner.
- 1 in 4 women will experience Domestic Abuse at some point in their lives.
- 1 in 8 men will experience Domestic Abuse at some point in their lives.
We attended an event to remember those murdered each year by their partner or ex-partner in Basildon Town Square, Essex in November and went to Tower Hamlets Domestic Violence awareness ‘Valentine weekend’ at the IDEA stores in February.
Swan was the only Housing association to send a male representative to both of these events!
To report Domestic Abuse or if you want to talk to someone call 0808 2000 247 In an emergency dial 999 |
