Priestman Point in Bow The transformation of Preistman Point on the Bow Cross Estate, in Tower Hamlets has been given high recognition by the capital’s Building Control experts.

Swan Housing Association’s regeneration of the landmark east London tower block, was the overall winner in the category for the Best Social and Affordable Housing Project 2010-11 at the prestigious London District Surveyors Association (LDSA) Awards.

The Priestman Point refurbishment is part of a 10 year regeneration of the Crossways Estate in Bow (also known as Bow Cross) which will provide 385 new homes and 295 refurbished homes by 2014.

The change in the area has been dramatic giving a tangible positive atmosphere. Previously the area was prone to vandalism, arson and other crime resulting in no-go areas.

When Priestman Point was completed Swan and staff from the London Borough of Tower Hamlets Staff received many unsolicited comments from residents noting how pleased they were with the transformation.

Priestman Point is one of a trio of tower blocks at estate, the other two are currently undergoing refurbishment to a similar standard.
