In 2011 we asked residents, employees and partner organisations about the equality issues that matter most to them. Thank you to everyone who helped us to develop the Swan Housing Association Single Equality Scheme. The Scheme was agreed by our Board in December and copies of the Scheme document will be available in March 2012. The Scheme sets out our progress to date and how we will make further improvements over the next three years.
If you would like to know more about our Single Equality Scheme or speak to someone about equality and diversity at Swan please telephone Samantha Sizeland on 01277 844242 or send an email to

Season’s greetings!
Hi All, it’s been a while since my last article but it’s good to be back! With Christmas coming up I’ve been thinking a lot about practical ways to save money and reduce costs. It’s not always easy to cut back even more when you’re already on a tight budget!

We are helping to support your local community by running Work Clubs in your area.
We just opened the first Work Club in Basildon, based at the Craylands Consultation Shop. It is the second for Swan, having opened a similar club on the Bow Cross Estate in Tower Hamlets.

You can make a difference too
Two generations of the Damm family, from Chelmsford, are involved in improving our service. Bradley, Jessica and their mum Tracy are on our Newsletter Editorial Panel. They are happy that we listen to their views and that they make a difference in creating this newsletter, which has over 8,000 readers. They can’t always come during the school term time, but like to have a say when we meet in the school holidays.
