""With a little help from Swan, a 21year old mum has got the confidence to go back to work. Bonnie left school at 15 years old to have her son who is now six. Once he was at school she felt that she wanted to try and return to work. Bonnie received help from the Floating Support service for just seven months and then got the job that she had always wanted.

Bonnie was unsure of how she would get back to work as she lacked the confidence to explore her options by herself. Over a number of weeks with the help of her support officer they discussed various careers and other opportunities. It became clear that Bonnie didn’t just want a job, she wanted a career. A career, that both she and her son could be proud of. She understood that she would need to do a lot of work in order to gain the qualifications needed to make up for her lack of education.

Bonnie enrolled on a basic skills course through learn direct and progressed quickly and soon began courses to gain GCSE equivalents in Maths and English.

Letters were sent to local businesses requesting a work placement as a legal secretary, as some experience would help with her studying. Finally, she got a letter back offering her a placement.

With all her training and work in place, we decided together, that it was time for Bonnie to carry on without us. Bonnie is very grateful for the support and guidance from Swan and she is a visibly more confident and independent woman - a real difference from when she first entered the service just seven months earlier. Well done Bonnie!
